Announcements: President Kisiel made several announcements:
-The golf tournament has tentatively netted about $19,000.  Jon thanks all who helped to make this a marvelous success!  The earlier start time prevented a wash out that afternoon; registration went smoothly and Warren Packard sunk a 30’ putt.  All was good this year!!
- Welcome to Bob Lowell and Linda Stevenson who are back from their year-long travels.
- Winetasting fundraiser: the committee has determined to postpone until Spring as there are several Fall projects underway.
-Dick passed out committee assignments and asks if anyone would like to join another committee to contact him to make that change.
-Chicken BBQ SOTG; Ken passed out 10 tickets to each Rotary member reminding all that the presale money is the key to a successful fundraiser.  Ray and Frank placed the signs on the Green this week.  Ken asked for a volunteer to pick up 15 bags of charcoal from Costco and Bob noted he will handle this task.
-Lobster and steak member dinner scheduled for Oct 16 @ Fox Hollow Gun Club.  Details to follow.
-Dick then asks the membership with help in identifying a project that would significantly benefit the town, Rotary could chair this project acting as the project manager and work with other town groups to really make a difference.  Proposed were creating a map of Suffield and incorporating a walking/driving tour with kiosk; additional Mapleton Hall assistance; with a request to the members to bring additional ideas to the table.
PROGRAM: Sydney Eitel is a Suffield HS sophomore Agriscience student, a program which requires identifying, managing and reporting on a year-long project for a minimum of 150 hours.  Sydney has identified the Hilltop Farm chicken coop restoration as her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project and provided a handout which outlined the current state of the facility and her restoration plans for a portion of the section.  The restoration essentially repairs all four sides of the identified area and adds a run, door, windows, feeding and water system and nesting boxes for a total cost of just under $3000.  Sydney proposes the sale of eggs and manure will provide the income to sustain the chickens.  Sydney was asked to provide a more complete breakdown of materials needed and the Rotary members will check to see if these materials are available for donation to her project.  She will be looking to both FFA and FOFAH for support for her project.
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Frank DiGennaro; with sides won by Jack Muska and Jon Kozloski.
Queen of Hearts:  Don Miner had the winning ticket last week and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Frank DiGennaro held the winning red ticket but did not pull the Queen. Total winning pot now stands at $550+.
Birthdays and Anniversaries: None
Adjournment: Richard Kisiel closed the meeting with a group singing of “God Bless America”.
Next week’s meeting (Aug 21) – Bob Lowell- Suffield Rotarian, Crazy Horse Memorial and its story/history.
