Last Friday we had an excellent presentation by Mary Kay Kaushin about the No Kid Hungry program and her Feed the Kids golf tournament fundraiser. Mary Kay talked about the tragedy of food scarcity for children in our area and the work she has done to address it. It was inspiring to see how one person can make a difference (two people, Mary Kay’s husband is her partner in this endeavor). She exemplifies Service Above Self. I think there is a place for Mary Kay in Rotary.
We also said farewell to Seth Tennenbaum who attended his last meeting with us today. Seth and his wife have moved to the Boston area. Seth was a great addition to our club for the time he was with us. I personally want to thank him for bringing multiple speakers and several new members to our club. Best of luck Seth.
As we move into the fall, we hope to see more of all of you. As usual, attendance is light in the summer. I hope you all are enjoying some time off. Don’t forget to rejoin us in the fall.
In particular, remember the first Thursday of September we will be serving at Friends of the Homeless.
Our very able Vice President, John Perez will be covering for me while I take a couple of weeks off. John and his committee reported this week that we did receive a district grant towards our water project. This is exciting news and moves this project to the next level. Thanks John.
I look forward to returning, refreshed and ready for an exciting fall of fellowship and Service Above Self.
