The 1469 Meeting of the Rotary club of Sooke was brought to order by President Sam Purdy at 5:15.
Sam introduced our guest Marvelee Papaloukas, Regional Manager, JABC Junior Achievement of BC.
Noelle Wass offered a Rotary Moment.
Sam regaled us with stories of the Kitchener/Waterloo Octoberfest. Perhaps a Rotary Exchange idea for next year.
Sam explained how Rotarians can become a member of the Polio Plus Society. Rotarians designate $100 annually to Polio Plus fund until the eradication of Polio world wide.
Dal Little introduced our speaker Marvalee who then outlined the activities of Junior Achievement BC. Their mandate is to inspire, prepare and empower BC Youth with programs that are fun, hands-on and can transform a young person's life. This organization is always looking for volunteers. contact: Marvelee Papaloukas, Regional Manager. Sam had a couple of Announcements:

On a sadder note, Tom DeZeng will be resigning from our club at the end of October. Tom will be greatly missed by us all. Hopefully he will come to visit often.
Our meeting next week, Oct 23rd. will be a noon meeting at Village Foods
