The 1346th meeting of the Sooke Rotary Club was called to order at 12:15 on January 4, 2017.
 
There was no speaker today so the Club enjoyed a Social Meeting.
Roger Temple led in the singing of O Canada and Chris Hyde offered the invocation.
Peter Faulkner announced the sad news of the passing Dwight Johnston on New Years Day. Our condolences to his family and friends.
Errol Anderson is recovering in hospital after surgery. He is expected to be home by Saturday. We send him our best wishes and hopes for a speedy convalescence.
John Toloniski asked us to join in Birthday greetings to Carol Rogers and Steve Splawski.
Steve is also celebrated 25 years with the club.
Peter Faulkner gave us an estimate of $2000 raised at the Salvation Army Kettle over the Christmas period.
Roger announced that He and Vicki would be leaving for their RFE trip on Friday. The incoming guests will be arriving towards the end of May and Roger offered all of our Rotarians to take part in hosting and welcoming our guests.
Chris Hyde has told us to expect Gary Brooks as our speaker on Jan 11th.
Neil Flynn gave us an update on the John Muir Garden and also suggested we be looking forward to our next major project. 
Mark Ziegler will be attending the next meeting of the Project Unity Committee. Our club donates $600 each year to this project.
The elusive Queen is still in hiding.
