The August 23, 2017 Rotary Club of Sooke meeting was called to order by President Roger Temple at 12:15pm.
Roger led us in the singing of O Canada and John Topolniski offered an Invocation.

Roger reminded us about the September 10th meeting of the District Governor to take place at Gorge Vale Golf Club. There are 10 members from our club attending this meeting.
Joan Peggs may be coming to visit our club at our Sept 6th evening meeting.
For those attending the R.I convention in Toronto in June, 2018 there will be a discount if registered before December 15th.
A Peace Fellow from the Jane Goodall Foundation will be coming and it may be necessary to offer a donation towards the airfare.
Rotaract is celebrating 50 years. The Victoria Rotaract sent us a note of appreciation for our $100 donation.
The Rotary Friendship Exchange program is  looking to make a few changes.  They will provide an opportunity for non Rotarians to participate and to  provide an occupational or vocational element to the RFE opportunity.
The Rotary Club of Sooke Grizzlies hockey game is on Sept. 3rd and we are in need of a few more volunteers. The signs and posters are up and the information regarding the game is posted on Facebook and twitter. Club members will be meeting at the night market at the museum next Thursday to promote the hockey game and to show a Rotary presence in the community.
Neil Flynn will be forwarding a schedule of the Australian RFE visit. Our guests will be arriving on Sept 15.
Neil and Jeannette are organizing different events for our first Wednesday of every month evening meetings. A calendar of events was passed around. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:25pm.
