On November 13th, District Governor Pete Taylor, together with his wife Kristine and Assistant District Governor Lorna Curtis, visited the Rotary Club of Sooke

ImageBefore the lunch meeting, Pete held a session with our Board in TD Bank boardroom (thank you York for providing the room and coffee, and thank you Henny for providing treats).  Progress reports were provided by each Board member. A highlight of the lunch meeting were Pete's humorous and informative talk in which he stressed the importance of recruitment of new members and the work of the Rotary Foundation.  Memorable as well was his presentation of the Energizer Award to John Bridal for his tireless work on Club public relations, the Auction and Spring Fair and the Adopt-A-Highway project .

After lunch, Mark showed Pete, Kristine and Lorna the Sk8 Park and the Rotary Pier.  They also visited Sooke Elementary School where Pete presented Kerry Arnott, the principal with a cheque for over $5,600 which will allow the school to purchase a Mac compute and 10 IPADS for use by all 250 students (Kindergarten through Grade 5).  The Community Service Community of our Club secured this money from internal funds and a Matching Community  from our Rotary District 5020.  The photo at right is the cheque presentation during a Grade 1 class.
