The Rotary Club of Sooke is initiating a new Adventure in Culinary Arts this year for youth in grades 10 to 12 with some previous cooking background. The event is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday November 20th and Sunday November 21st 2010.  We are now seeking applicants.

July 21st 2010

Fellow Rotary Clubs of District 5020

The Rotary Club of Sooke's new Adventure in Culinary Arts is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday November 20th and Sunday November 21st 2010.

The Club has engaged a Chef of some renown to Sooke, Zach Regan, to provide instruction and insight into the art of cuisine. Zach's bio can be found on the attached flyer. Zach not only has his ability in the kitchen but relates to youth in a meaningful manner.

As a new endeavor the Rotary Club of Sooke anticipates a group of approximately 16 students this year with billeting provided overnight Saturday by Sooke Rotarians. Details are being finalized at this time with a full prospective and schedule to be available by start of School in September 2010. The program should commence at about 10 am on Saturday and end around 1 pm on Sunday. Transportation to and from the Adventure would be the responsibility of the student sponsoring Rotary Club.

We anticipate that you will support this Adventure by electing to sponsor a youth or two from the High School in your area. Due to the limited number of spaces it will be a first come first serve basis for participation in the program, however we will keep a short wait list to ensure a full class.

The program is not limited to classroom activity but will include a "black box" ingredient cook off, judging of meal by Rotarians, and a visit to as high end restaurant in the Sooke area.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to receiving your application to reserve a place for the Adventure in Culinary Arts in the near future.
