The Rotary Club of Sooke defines itself by its unique local projects.  Our club strives to be a dynamic force in the Sooke community, making a differences in our neighbours' lives.

Rotary's Community Service Committee is reviewing Funding Requests at three major intakes during this Rotary year with applications due October 15, January 15 and May 15. All applicants must complete a Financial Assistance Request Form which can be downloaded from this page. Requests for emergency or personal aid are reviewed as required.

  • Community Service Projects: Now in its third decade of community service, the Rotary Club of Sooke has completed many major capital projects and countless ongoing smaller projects. For example:
    • funding for new accessible washrooms at Camp Barnard
    • new siding and painting of cabin at Sooke River Girl Guide camp
    • 12 iPad minis and a laptop computer for Sooke Elementary School
    • funding for Journey Strings Program
    • instruction and new equipment for Sooke Seahawks Football
    • new fencing and repairs at Fred Milne park
    • dinghy equipment for Sooke sailing Association
    • donated library books to area schools, 
    • supported the RCMP DARE program for drug awareness at the middle school level,
    • built a playground shelter at Kingfisher pre-school, 
    • donated funds to the Saseenos Integrated Playground project, 
    • assisted several young people in their endeavors to attend sporting events outside our community, 
    • supported travel for young people volunteering internationally from our community, 
    • sponsored an EMCS student through Rotary's international exchange program to attend school in Thailand, 
    • sent students to different locations across Canada with the Adventure programs concentration on Citizenship, Leadership,Technology and Forestry, Environment & Film
    • repainted the stairs to Stan Jones field, assisted at SK8 Jam at the skateboard park built by Rotary, 
    • hosted the Salvation Army kettle at Christmas,
    • purchased "health dolls" and donated them to CASA, 
    • funded the annual EMCS West Coast Trail experience, 
    • purchased equipment for the Navy League, 
    • promoted. assisted and purchased equipment for lacrosse training locally,
    • supported the Juan de Fuca Rescue Society, Sooke Options for Community Living, Sooke Crisis Centre, Sooke Transition House, Sooke Christmas Bureau and the Sooke Food Bank, and
    • funded a 24 passenger bus to transport children and youth to recreational activities
  • Event Sponsorship & Support: When Sooke's community needs help, the Rotary Club is there -- from helping staff ongoing events or assisting in the planning, financing, and delivery of new events.   

These diverse activities and partners demonstrate Rotary's strong partnerships and connection with the community.

In addition, Rotary focuses on direct support to Sooke's youth, with five annual bursaries, funding student leadership opportunities like the Sooke Youth Council, supporting individual youth and teams to participate outside the community in sports, and other activities and partners with many local volunteer groups.
