Tomorrow is Memorial Day. This is a day to remember those who gave all for our way of life. Despite our many problems, we are a great nation and we live in freedom because of those who put service above self.

Maren’s sister, Lara, told us about her kids. Her mission is supporting the Sun Valley Youth Center. What an inspiring story they have helping kids who seem not to have much of a chance to be successful. The Sun Valley Youth Center relies heavily on outside support, both financially and with volunteer efforts.  Here is a link to our donation page as well: SVYC Donation Page If members are interested in volunteer opportunities, here is their volunteer coordinators email: diamond@sunvalleyyouthcenter.org

T. J. Reminds us that the focus on Polio Eradication, and on Rotary International's signature program, Polio Plus, is part of our June goals.

Our speaker June 16, David Willman is the District Foundation Chair, and we need to try to commit funds to meet our Club's Annual PP goal.  TJ suggests anyone who can commit at least $25.00 to this end, and we will use all the funds raised from the commitments, birthdays, happy bucks, etc. on June 16 and put them into Polio Plus in the name of the Donating Rotarians."

Dave announced two shipments of mobility devices are on the way after a delay caused by container availability problems. Dave wakes up every day focusing on what he can do to change the condition of those with mobility challenges … Thanks Dave for making your dream come true.

The June 6 pancake breakfast is at the lookout Mt. Vernon Fire station. It will be a great way for you to help the fund raiser and do a little networking.  Nancy is still looking for firetruck drivers.

Speaking of networking, on June 12th. the Boogie at the barn will occur at Nelson Ranch….AKA  Evergreen Memorial Park. Tickets are available online or at the door. We are a sponsor, and this is always a fun event.

On June 12th. We will join the Kiwanis for Highway cleanup. You can meetup at Wendy’s at 9:00AM

We and the morning club will participate in a new marketing test which will try to bring each club leads of individuals who might be candidates for membership. The test will feature both a direct mail campaign and an Internet campaign as well.  I am hopeful that we can identify individuals who want to become members. We are down 10% in membership, and it seems that a small handful of our members carry a large share of the load.

I urge you to sign up to sell 50/50 Raffle tickets at the Liquor store. Safeway location. Judi, Katie and I had good results and you can as well. An extra $500-$600 per weekend in June will make a difference.
If we get the volunteers, we can sell $3,000 to $4,000 tickets before the event.  Half of all we sell goes to Maren’s program. She needs the support to maintain her programming. All we have to do is show up and ask…Actually, it’s fun.
