Moment of Inspiration
Michelle Rahm shared a story of inspiration that touched our hearts too.
The true story of Bridger Walker who put his  life at risk to save his sister from a dog attack.  When young Bridger saw a dog charging at his little sister, he jumped in to stand between her and the dog. Before he could grab his sister’s hand and escape, Bridger was bitten by the dog multiple times on the face and head.
A few days later his aunt posted on social media this note:  “After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home. We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks.”  And that was all it took for this story to spread- Hundreds of thousands of social media users and celebrities on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter saw the show of Bridger’s bravery and voiced their support for the little “hero” from Cheyenne.   Little did she know, Bridger’s story would touch the hearts of people across the globe and would be shared on news sites in countries like India and Britain.
Michelle learned that Bridger loved rocks and being a gemologist, that was all it took for her to reach out to this boy and start a friendship.  So, when Michelle was offered the chance to present "Moment of Inspiration" to the club, it was a no-brainer who inspires her.  Thanks for sharing Michelle!
Program:  New Leaf Chiropractic
New Leaf Chiropractic clinic is located off Airport Road in Longmont, and serves the surrounding areas. Drs. Ben, Kyle and Amber specialize in sports rehabilitation, chiropractic, applied kinesiology (muscle testing), biomechanics. This isn’t your typical in-and-out back cracking. As Dr. Amber explained, “It’s a terrible business model, but we want to see you as little as possible,” meaning they want to provide exercises as resources for your overall health so you aren’t just treating one symptom.
Dr. Ben worked with Chinese Olympic gymnasts based on his techniques for musculoskeletal therapy. Dr. Amber worked with a Chinese Olympic archery team because of her excellence in Applied Kinesiology. Dr. Kyle helps many track and field athletes with his biomechanics training and soft tissue mobilization strategies.

Shelter Box

The death toll from the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti has risen to more than 1,295, with an estimated 8,000 homes damaged or destroyed and thousands more displaced. The search and rescue to find survivors is the priority right now.   The devastation worsens as Haitians now contend with the Tropical Depression Grace.

The ShelterBox emergency response team is in Haiti now, assessing the damage and determining how ShelterBox can best serve the needs of communities,  along with the logistics of delivering aid during a pandemic. They are also in active discussions with local partners in Haiti, including Rotary International, Habitat for Humanity, and the IFRC, to understand the shelter needs and how ShelterBox can best respond to help displaced families.

Thank you for your support !

President's Message

Hello All,

Thank you for granting me the opportunity to serve as the president of the Rotary club of Longmont for the 2021–2022 Rotary year.

The upcoming year will be one of continuing change as we start the process of returning to the “new normal“ of in-person meetings. The process is going to be a "crawl, walk, run" and I hope everyone will be patient.
The theme of this rotary year is "Serve to change lives".  It will be wonderful to be able to come up with projects to follow this theme and continue to serve our community locally nationally and internationally.
While we will not be able to have in person RYLA again this year, there will be a one day virtual session. With school being in person, I am looking forward to the Young Rotarian‘s being able to start up again in the fall. Our youth are the future of rotary!
My goal this year is to grow our club by a few members and for everyone to think of younger people in the community who would make great Rotarians.
I look forward to a terrific year.
Yours in Rotary,
Debby Paris
