Longmont Rotary Club Bulletin March Edition

Welcome to our updated bulletin! We have redesigned our monthly newsletter to better share our stories, celebrate our members, and highlight the impact of our community partners. From "The Engine Room" committee updates to our "In the Spotlight" member profiles, this new format is designed to keep you connected to the heart of our club. To ensure your news is included, please submit all content for future editions to the communications team by the third Tuesday of each month.

From the Podium

A Message from Roger and Virginia

Every Tuesday around 12:15 pm, we take a moment to look around the room and smile. There is an unmistakable "buzz" of connection—the sound of tables full of laughter, new members being welcomed, and friends catching up on their week. In those moments, we are reminded of how special this Club truly is. The Longmont Rotary Club has become a place of genuine fellowship, and that spirit of friendship is at the heart of everything we do.

Of course, Rotary is also about growth and impact. Each week, we hear from an incredible range of speakers who broaden our understanding of the world. Through our service projects and community grants, we turn that understanding into action, making a tangible difference here in Longmont and in communities across the globe.

What makes this all possible is the spirit each of you brings to the table. We continue to be inspired by the way our members step forward to volunteer, support one another, and welcome new faces into the fold. Thank you for the energy, generosity, and goodwill you bring every Tuesday. Those conversations over lunch are just as important as the projects we accomplish—they are the foundation of what makes Rotary so rewarding.

Yours in Service, Roger and Virginia

The RI Brief: The Rotary Minute

Investing in Peacebuilders Rotary International awards up to 170 fully funded fellowships annually to dedicated leaders from around the world to study at our eight Rotary Peace Centers. This program develops the capacity of professionals to become effective catalysts for peace through academic training and global networking. Fellowships cover tuition, fees, room and board, and field-study expenses.

In The Spotlight: Anne Reynolds-Smith

The "Aha!" Moment: "I’d known about Rotary through my grandfather, but when Debby brought me to my first meeting and I heard everyone recite the Four-Way Test, I knew in a flash this was where I belonged. I’ve never wavered since."

The Four-Way Test vs. Dinner Plans: "Applying the Test to my kitchen is a fun challenge. Is my strict gluten-free menu 'fair to all concerned' (especially those who love grains)? Maybe not! But I build 'goodwill and better friendships' by being such an amazing cook that they don't even miss the problematic ingredients."

Hidden Talent: "I haven’t met an art medium I didn’t want to try. I love figuring out the process myself—my home is full of 'shiny new projects' I’ve mastered and moved on from."

The Dream Dinner Party: "I’d host Betty White, Dolly Parton, and my great-grandmother Emma Granger. I’d ask them to brainstorm how to increase joy for an agitated global population. I’m certain my Grannie’s solution would involve chocolate."

The Longmont Must-Do: "If you have three hours in town, we are going to brunch at Lucile’s. It’s practically a family law. I’d insist you order the beignets and the spice tea!"
