Silver Creek Leadership Academy Projects
Students from Silver Creek Leadership Academy have two exciting projects to share.
1)  The Dream Bus: Alexa Opatril is working with the St. Vrain Innovation Center and Mobile Lab to bring joy to kids with critical/chronic illnesses by hosting a Toy Drive to donate to Children's Hospital.  You can learn more about this project on Instagram @thedreambus_scla
2)  Blood for the Better: Three upcoming blood drives will be held at Springhill Suites in Longmont on February 9th, March 9th, and April 13th. More information can be found on Instagram @bloodfrothebetter.
Let's show our support to these students!
Young RYLA Presentation
Congratulations to Isabel Rosario, Isabel Rico, Carter Pensy, and Olivia Atherton for participating in the Young RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) program.   Each year, young people take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program worldwide. Young people are chosen for their leadership potential to attend an all-expenses-paid camp to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice.  "Young RYLA" targets middle school youth. Essentially, it's a RYLA program tailored for younger students to build leadership skills at an earlier age.

Check Presentation to Longmont Symphony
Club President Andy Lee presented a check to the Longmont Symphony to support "The Gentle Nutcracker." Executive Director Elliot Moore shared details about this sensory-friendly holiday production of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” designed for neurodiverse individuals, their families, and caregivers. This special performance offers a caring and comfortable environment for all to enjoy.
New Member Spotlight: Bernie Stoecker
Welcome, Bernie, to Longmont Rotary! It’s about time—we’ve been waiting for this moment! Bernie has long been a familiar face at club meetings, often accompanying his wife, Leona, a devoted Longmont Rotarian. But thanks to the new "Family Package" by-law changes, Bernie is now officially part of the Rotary family.

Hailing from Kansas and a proud Kansas State College alum, Bernie has always had a passion for flying. Fun fact: on his second date with Leona, he swept her off her feet—literally—with a thrilling plane ride! After three years of active military duty, Bernie took to the skies with United Airlines, where he spent 28 incredible years as a commercial pilot.

When he’s not in the clouds or making new memories with Rotary, you might just find Bernie perfecting his swing on the golf course. Welcome aboard, Captain Bernie! We’re thrilled to have you! ✈️⛳
