CLUB NEWS
Program:  A Precious Child

 Presented by Maria Martinez.

A Precious Child provides children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. A Precious Child partners with more than 500 agencies, such as, schools, health and human services, foster care organizations, hospitals, fire and police departments, churches, nonprofits and shelters. Through this partnering, they can amplify their impact and serve more individuals and families.  Headquartered in Broomfield, A Precious Child serves eight Denver Metro counties- Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson and Weld.

Some recent examples of their service projects include: Support services to the Marshall Fire victims, child and family advocacy, support for youth to participate in sports and arts programs, school backpack programs, and mentor programs.  Maria said volunteers are essential. Opportunities like hosting supply drives or gathering teams for short term projects could be ideas for our club to engage with A Precious Child and serve the needs of our community.

And the STAR Award goes to.....?
Congratulations to Sue Bolton for receiving this week's Rotary Club STAR Award.  Roger Lange handed over his trophy to Sue, commenting that Sue always has a smile. She quietly goes about her duties to help our club be successful.
Next week Sue will have the opportunity to present the STAR Award to another club Rotarian.  The STAR Award is a way to recognize and learn about club members and the ways they serve.
Club Photos from Meeting
Dick Lyons provided a very powerful Moment of Inspiration. Reflecting on his trips to Ukraine and our club's work with Open World projects (in Ukraine), he shared some photos from his visits. He also found photos of that same image, showing the devastation from the Russian invasion. All this was framed with background music, "Let there be Peace on Earth.....And Let it Begin with Rotarians".

"Each One Care One"
President Wein challenged the club to a new initiative called, "Each One Care One".  At the Rotary International Convention, Wein heard the RI President, Jennifer Jones talk about the importance of showing care to our fellow Rotarians.  According to President Jones, "Rotary has an important role to play to ensure that the club environment and experience is welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable for all members and participants. Surveys show that comfort and care is the single greatest driver of satisfaction and our most powerful tool for retention."
President Wein passed out a club roster and asked us to make a weekly commitment to reach out to a fellow club member, not just the ones we talk to regularly, but the one we haven't seen in a while.  What a great idea President Wein!
