Our Young Rotarian Club decided to join efforts to fundraise for Ukraine. These youth from Silver Creek and Niwot High Schools, designed and made bracelets in Ukrainian colors. They set up a booth at the Niwot Market and in 90 minutes they raised $275 dollars. A QR code, available at their booth, provided a link to the Longmont Rotary website where people could donate to the Ukrainian Relief through the Rotary International Foundation. Colin Rickman is the Coordinator of the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) Innovation Lab. He offered Rotarians an actual tour of the lab, parked out front for small groups to visit. This Lab is a cutting-edge technology and innovation center in a mobile environment. The Lab emphasizes a virtual reality, robotics, design-thinking, aeronautics, as well as STEM and early learning experiences, designed to excel students’ learning and extend public education beyond the classroom. This mobile lab is a tool used for outreach in our community and beyond. The mobile lab visits schools, participates in community events and provides resources for professional development and innovations. The students are currently building a two-seater airplane!!
Dan Gust, Foundation Committee club member provided an update on our efforts to raise funds for our Ukrainian Disaster Challenge. If the club raises $10,000, an anonymous club member has agreed to match our donation with another $10,000. So far our club has raised about $5,000. "We are halfway to our goal. Our club has made many connections with the people of Ukraine. Our Open World program has brought several Ukrainian teams to Longmont." You can make a donation via a check, made out to Longmont Rotary Foundation or you can go on-line through Rotary International or click on this link. We do ask if you make a donation directly to Rotary International, please let us know so we can track your contributions.
The Annual Rotary District Conference will be held on April 29-30th at The Hangar at Stanley Marketplace in Aurora. This years theme is "Empower Youth". Registration is now open at the Rotary 5450 District website.

Hello All,
Thank you for granting me the opportunity to serve as the president of the Rotary club of Longmont for the 2021–2022 Rotary year.
The upcoming year will be one of continuing change as we start the process of returning to the “new normal“ of in-person meetings. The process is going to be a "crawl, walk, run" and I hope everyone will be patient.
The theme of this rotary year is "Serve to change lives". It will be wonderful to be able to come up with projects to follow this theme and continue to serve our community locally nationally and internationally.
While we will not be able to have in person RYLA again this year, there will be a one day virtual session. With school being in person, I am looking forward to the Young Rotarian‘s being able to start up again in the fall. Our youth are the future of rotary!
My goal this year is to grow our club by a few members and for everyone to think of younger people in the community who would make great Rotarians.
