A Message from Roger and Virginia

We are still feeling incredibly inspired after our recent Peace Pole Dedication and Student Peace Poem Contest, which served as the cornerstone of our Epic Day of Service. It was a beautiful day that perfectly captured the spirit of our neighborhoodโ€”one rooted in connection, harmony, and a shared vision for the future.

Seeing so many of you come out to engage with one another, share conversations, and gather around our new Peace Pole was a powerful reminder of how resilient our community engagement is when we unite for a meaningful cause. The Peace Pole now stands as a permanent symbol of unity on our grounds, inviting anyone who passes by to pause and reflect.

Most importantly, we want to highlight the moving, insightful words shared by our student participants during the Peace Poem Contestโ€”they were the absolute highlight of the day. An event like this does not happen without an immense amount of dedication. A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered, and a huge shout-out to Rose, Carrie, Janet, and Jackie, whose hard work behind the scenes made everything run seamlessly.

Next time you are out and about, we encourage you to stop by the Peace Pole, take a quiet moment, and carry that sense of peace with you.

๐Ÿ‘‹ New Member Welcome: We are thrilled to officially welcome Janessa Lopez  to the Longmont Rotary family! Please make sure to introduce yourself and welcome Janessa at our next weekly meeting.

Peace POLE DEDICATION

Peace Pole Dedication - Dickens Farm Nature Area

Peace Poem Winners

The Dedication Ceremony

Park Clean up!

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Special Feature: An Epic Day of Service

Peace Pole Dedication & Park Cleanup Draws Over 80 Community Members

More than 80 community members gathered at the Dickens Farm Nature Area for a meaningful Peace Pole Dedication hosted by Longmont Rotary. The day began with a park cleanup effort in partnership with Twin Peaks Rotary, as volunteers worked together to care for our local natural space and demonstrate Service Above Self.

Following the cleanup, attendees gathered for the formal dedication of the Peace Pole, which carries the message โ€œMay Peace Prevail on Earthโ€ inscribed in multiple languages. The ceremony highlighted the importance of unity, understanding, and community connection. Jim Holderman shared thoughtful reflections on the practical meaning of peace, encouraging those present to consider how peace begins with everyday actions, mutual respect, and compassion.

One of the most inspiring moments of the event came when four student Peace Poem winners read their original poems. Their words brought hope, creativity, and heartfelt messages about kindness, reminding everyone of the importance of empowering young voices in building a harmonious future. The ceremony concluded  with the students unwrapping the ribbons around the Peace Pole, symbolizing our shared local and global commitment to peace.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible and to our Sponsors, Minuteman Press and Los Palmeros.

๐Ÿ‘ค In The Spotlight: PAM AULTMAN

Getting to know the person behind the badge.

  • ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ The Path to Rotary: As a second-generation Rotarian, Pam already knew the profound impact of the organization. For her, joining wasn't a question of if, but when. When she moved to Longmont, the timing perfectly aligned.
  • ๐Ÿงฅ Pam's "Rotary Moment": Participating in her first winter coat distribution day. "There was a man who was so grateful to get a warm coat," Pam recalls. "I noticed it had a small rip and offered to help him find a different one, but he was just so happy with the one he had found."
  • ๐Ÿ“ฆ The Supply Chain Passion: Outside of her professional life, Pam describes herself as a supply chain and logistics geek who is deeply passionate about reducing global waste. She frequently examines how we export excess waste to developing countries, creating environmental disasters. Furthermore, Pam sees us exploiting the labor and resources in these countries without reasonable compensation and protection from harm.  Pam challenges fellow Rotarians to think about how we can provide more ethical, meaningful help and support.
  • ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ The Dream Dinner Party: Pam would choose to host ancestors from her own family tree, asking them about their daily lives and the single most significant decisions they ever had to make.
  •  ๐Ÿž๏ธ The Longmont Must-Do: A beautiful walk around McIntosh Lake, followed by after walk refreshments at Cheese Importers.

โš™๏ธ The Engine Room: Committee Updates

Charity Fund Committee Update

By Charlotte Tyson | Turning Rotary donations into local and global impact.

The Longmont Rotary Charity Fund (LRCF) was established in 1982 as a separate 501(c)(3) organization with its own board to assist local human service organizations in the name of Longmont Rotary. The board manages an endowed fund whose income supports grants, supplemented beautifully by personal donations from Longmont Rotarians and a $5/member quarterly allocation from dues.

๐Ÿ“Š Impact Milestone: In 2025 alone, the Longmont Rotary Charity Fund granted over $32,000 to critical Rotary and community projects.

Grant applications are continuously considered for eligible human service organizations serving the residents of Longmont.

Recent LRCF Grant Highlights:

  • ๐Ÿช‘ Hover Senior Living Community: Funded essential lift chair replacements.
  • ๐ŸŽ Colorado Friendship: Supported the IncrEdibles school weekend food program to combat childhood hunger.
  • ๐ŸŽฃ Breakfast Optimist Club: Sponsored the local Kids Fishing Program in Longmont.

โ€ข โ€ข ๐Ÿ† Club Project Support: Contributed ongoing funding to the Slick Haley Awards, Compassion Awards, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and provided a matching $500 addition to the funds raised for our monthly Longmont Rotary Fishbowl recipients.
