Project C.U.R.E.

Diana Fetter, the Executive Director of Project C.U.R.E, spoke about the life-saving services this important non-profit provides. They deliver medical equipment, supplies, and services to meet the needs of people in poverty, disasters, and violence. At least 400 million people have no basic healthcare. Every two seconds, someone aged 30 to 70 loses their life to noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, or cancer. Many in the developing world have little to no access to identification, detection, or treatment.

That’s where Project C.U.R.E. makes a difference. By providing the necessary medical equipment and supplies, doctors have the resources to care for their patients.

Longmont Rotary Check Presentations
Greenwood Animal Sanctuary received a gift from the club's Fishbowl fundraising program.  Matthew Celesta from Greenwood was present to receive the check. Each month the club selects a local non-profit to benefit. Our Charity Fund also contributes to this program. Matthew spoke about the many ways they offer rehabilitation to wounded wild animals, along with their educational school programming.

Ken Cline and Darrell Beck presented a check on behalf of the Longmont Charity Fund, to support the Chick Clark Fishing Derby. The proceeds of this gift are used to stock the Issac Walton Pond for their annual fishing Derby held on March 16th. Chick Clark was a member of the Longmont Rotary Club and the founder of the annual Chick Clark Fishing Derby.
Rotary EPIC Day of Service
Mark your calendars for a fun Rotary work day on May 18th.  Called the Rotary EPIC Day of Service, this multi-club event is designed to get all clubs engaged in service, raising community awareness and uniting our commitment to Service Above Self.  There are many projects to choose from and Rotarians and guests can go to the Epic Day of Service website and sign up for a project. The EPIC Day of Service Website lists the projects and descriptions.  It's not too early, so sign up now!  Questions can be directed to club member, Andy Lee.

Longmont United Hospital: Common Spirit

Deb Mohesky, Interim CEO of  Longmont United Hospital: Common Spirit, spoke about the many projects currently in action. She is excited to be of service to LUH, stating,  "The true heart of the hospital is the staff" adding, "The small things can be the big things.  Quality service and a true heart are two essential components of a hospital."

Deb shared some of the current Strategic Plans.  "Primary care is the most important, expanding options and extending Emergent Care (ED).  We have not closed anything and we plan to expand our services."  Strategic Plans include additional leased locations for primary care, growing the OB program, increasing surgical volume, advancing orthopedic care, heart and vascular care, and stabilizing oncology.

When asked about the new hospital recently built in Longmont, she replied, "There is plenty of room in this community for two hospitals".
