Dr. Al Carr offered opening remarks by reminding the club who was Frank McDonough. “Frank was a respected journalist and dedicated Rotarian.” His legacy included a weekly column in The Times-Call entitled The Coffee Break. His ability to bridge diverse perspectives with humor was one of his talents, fostering unity amid differing viewpoints. Dr. Carr shared anecdotes, including the beloved ‘iron pig story’, emblematic of Frank's humor and knack for bringing people together.

 

Karen Hicks and Al Carr presented the Frank McDonough, Service Above Self award to Sue Bolton. 

Sue Bolton, a Longmont Rotary member for 20 years, attended C.U. moving to Longmont with her spouse after graduation. A former teacher in the SVVSD for 30 years, Sue now spends her retirement time in volunteer service, currently serving on the Sister Cities Board of Directors, and weekly providing meals at the OUR Center. She worked with Habitat for Humanity, building a home in Southern Africa.  Sue has been Chair of the Fishbowl Committee for 20 years. She enjoys outdoor sports and was eager to raise funds for the Rotary Cycle to Serve events, participating in the 25 and 50-mile bike rides. 

Sue has a gentle, thoughtful way about herself, and always has a smile to offer others.  Sue is a lifelong active person, currently a member of two tennis leagues, skiing with her ski club, and enjoying gardening and traveling.
