Sue Connelly, Longmont Rotarian and Daughter of the American Republic (DAR) gave a presentation on the history of the DAR and some of the activities of her local chapter.   The DAR is a nonpolitical volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education. DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests. Still, all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.  The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded on October 11, 1890, and today has over 190,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the world.   

Sue referenced some of the projects her local chapter is engaged in, including; Veterans Stand Down, Veteran's Day Parade, American History Essay contest, Strawberry Festival, and Memorial Day festivities.  Sue mentioned that the DAR can help you ascertain your patriot lineage.  She also mentioned that the DAR can help you trace your patriot lineage and noted that a similar organization exists for men, the Sons of the American Revolution.

Longmont Rotary Fishbowl proceeds were presented to the Skyline Kiwanis Foundation.  Here to receive the check was Kyle Snyder totaling  $703,  expressing his appreciation, indicating the gift would be used to support the Longmont fireworks.

Each week club members contribute to the Fishbowl by purchasing ticket(s) in hopes of receiving half of the "bowl" that week.  The other half goes to a local non-profit.  Additionally, the Longmont Charity Fund contributes a designated amount.
