Longmont Rotary Club
Dear Rotarians,

We are currently watching COVID-19 strike down thousands and thousands of people throughout the world because currently there is no vaccine to prevent it from spreading. Fortunately, there is a vaccine against the crippling disease of polio.
In January, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Rotary International (RI) renewed their longstanding partnership to end polio. RI committed to raising $50 million per year over the next three years, with every Rotary dollar to be matched with two additional dollars from the Gates Foundation!
Our Club leadership has designated April and May as Polio Giving Months with a goal of raising $6,000 for 2,000 immunizations at a cost of $3.00 a dose (covering the polio immunization plus vitamin supplements, plus the costs of transport, vaccine stabilization storing at a specific temperature, and local community mobilization). If we meet our goal of $6,000 plus the Gates Foundation 2 for 1 match, RI will have $18,000 to help conquer polio once and for all! Last year, our Club’s donations totaled $25,200, then adding the 2:1 Gates Foundation match, our grand total was $ 75,705. 00.     That's Impressive!!!

We are making a direct appeal to our generous Longmont Rotary Club Rotarians,  to see if we can beat last year’s record.

To donate:
1. Go to http://www.endpolio.org OR
2. Put your check in an envelope with Dan Gust’s name on the exterior and drop off the envelope at the service desk right inside the front door of ACE Hardware at 17th and Main Street; OR
3. Mail your donation check to Chris Ray, 2232 Frontier Street, Longmont, CO. 80501
NOTE: make your check payable to Rotary International Foundation with “Polio” in the notation (the “for “line space on the bottom left side).
One generous Rotarian is making a $1,000 donation. Can you match that?
Polio usually strikes children 5 years of age and younger. Only two countries remain for RI and its partners to eradicate polio in this world! We ask for your generosity at this time when victory is so close at hand.

Thanking you in advance for your donation,

Nancy Rezac,
Longmont Rotary Club President
Longmont Rotary Foundation Committee
