Longmont Rotary was proud to present the Longmont Concert Band with an $800 contribution to support its work bringing free live music to our community. What began with just 15 musicians in 2003 has grown into an ensemble of approximately 70 volunteers of all ages.

Longmont Rotary recently presented an $800 contribution to the Longmont Concert Band, supporting the organization’s work to keep high-quality live music accessible to our community.

During a recent Rotary meeting, longtime member Mark Pimper shared the story of the Longmont Concert Band and how much it has grown over the past two decades.

Founded in 2003 with just 15 members, the band has grown into an ensemble of approximately 70 volunteer musicians. Its members range from high school students to musicians in their 80s, bringing together people from different generations through a shared love of music.

Led by Director Francisco Borja, the Longmont Concert Band performs approximately four major concerts each year in addition to summer appearances. The band keeps its performances free to the public and relies on audience donations, musician dues, and community support to help cover its operating expenses.

The ensemble’s growing reputation has also taken its musicians beyond Colorado, including a performance trip to New York City last year.

Longmont Rotary’s $800 contribution reflects our commitment to supporting the organizations and volunteers who make our community stronger.

We’re proud to support the Longmont Concert Band as they continue bringing people together through music and making the arts accessible to our community!
