Hereditary Cancer and Genetic Counseling

Madeline Miller is a certified genetic counselor, serving with Centura Health as a cancer genetic counselor at Avista Adventist Hospital and St. Anthony Hospital. She studied molecular biology and Spanish at the University of Colorado, Boulder and went on to pursue her graduate studies at Boston University where she graduated with a Master of Science degree in genetic counseling. She works with individuals and families affected by cancer to provide information and support in matters of hereditary cancer. She enjoys providing education on hereditary cancer and how cancer genetic counseling can help prevent this devastating disease. She believes in a holistic approach to care that engages the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of a person. 

Madeline will present on the differences between hereditary and non-hereditary cancers and how this information can impact the medical management of an individual and their family members. She will introduce the process of genetic counseling and share resources for gathering family health information.
