The Nederland Community Thanksgiving Dinner is taking place on Sunday, November 11th. The dinner is a community tradition of over 10 years, and it serves an average of 1200-1500 people. It is open to everyone in the Nederland community as well as anyone from outside the area that wishes to come. Absolutely anyone can come in and get a free hot meal. We are currently looking for volunteers from both The Nederland Rotary and members of the Boulder Valley Rotary. There are numerous ways you can volunteer:
1) Cook a Turkey! 45 turkeys are needed for this event, so this is an easy way to take part if you are unable to make it up the mountain to volunteer the weekend of. For more info on how to provide a turkey for this event and sign up, please click HERE!
2) Help with set up and break down during the weekend of the event! We need 25 volunteer to help set up on Saturday, break down on Sunday, and leave the Nederland Community Center spotless but full of gratitude for the upcoming week. To volunteer for set up/break down, sign up HERE! 3) Serve food and keep it coming! We need 30 volunteers to be servers, food runners, potluck table attendants, table clearers, and dishwashers on Sunday November 11th, between 11:45am-3pm. To volunteer for this role, sign up HERE! 4) Prep the meal! We need 28 volunteers to prep food on Saturday 11/10 in the afternoon, and all day during the event on Sunday, 11/11. To show off your prep prowess, sign up HERE! The Nederland Community Thanksgiving Dinner is a zero waste event. We ask that people bring their own plates and utensils. We do provide plates to those who do not have any. The dinner provides turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and gravy. The rest of the food is potluck style, so people bring side dishes, desserts, soups, beverages, and much more. The potluck table is always amazing!! Local coffee shops donate large containers of coffee, and other businesses usually get together to give other food items. It is a beautiful community event that brings everyone together in the spirit of thankfulness and support.
