Come on out this Thursday to hear about our District's upcoming trip to Uganda. Past District Governor Ron Smith and our own Terry Reed will discuss our 3-year project dealing with maternal and child health care and delivery in the health centers in and around the Kampala area. The project is being funded through a Global Grant from The Rotary Foundation and involves an exchange between our District and the District that covers Uganda in the form of Volunteer Training Teams (VTT).
Terry will be the VTT leader this year on a project that includes 7 senior medical staff members from Drexel University College of Medicine and 2 resident physicians from the University of California, Irvine. They will be leaving in a few weeks.
And, don't forget to contribute to the newborn and young child collection effort that is currently taking place in our club. You can bring your contribution to the club meeting this week and on January 29.
Suggestions:
baby blankets
infant and young children's clothing items
crayons and coloring books
small board games
small child dolls
other types of toys
professional sports teams T-shirts and caps for older kids.
The smaller the better, because the Rotary Travel Team will be packing all the contributions in suitcases that they will be carrying with them to Uganda.
