Postponed Due to weather Join the West Reading Environmental Advisory Council for their Earth Day Clean Up! M eet at the West Reading Playground Pavilion (Sycamore Street and 5th Avenue) between 10 am and 2pm on Sunday, April 25, 2021 and help with the clean up. The Mission has been a place of refuge for the homeless men of Berks County, PA. offering four different residential programs that men can work their way through to transition back into the community as productive and independent individuals. Are you a current junion or senior looking to strengthen your leadership skills and give back to the community? We have an opportunity for you. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Camp Neidig 2021 will consist of a series of morning virtual leadership session followed by an afternoon community service event held in conjunction with the Rotary Clubs of District 7430. Also, because of the cancellation of Camp Neidig 2020, this year's event is open to those students who are currently in their Junior or Senior year. Contact Dr. Steve Burnham for more information.

Shelter Box Campaign 2021 Your donation will change the lives of people in need by providing emergency shelter and essential equipment. Our goal is to purchase a Shelter Box by September 1 to meet the District 7430 Challenge! This Rotary year, District 7430 plans to be the first Rotary district where every club participates in the effort to provide shelter to families displaced by conflict and natural disaster. We challenge every club to meet or exceed their prior support for ShelterBox, Rotary's partner in global disaster relief. Donate/Contribute:

Hope Rescue Mission

Rob Turchi, Executive Director of Hope Rescue Mission will share information about the physical, emotional, and spiritual support needs they provide to the homeless of Berks County with the hope of seeing them restored to a productive life. We have an ongoing service project to provide a meal to the residents when there is a fifth Thursday of the month.

Join us at 7:00 am on Aug. 21st and be engaged as our club is preparing and serving a Pancake Breakfast for the residents of Opportunity House (430 N 2nd Street - Reading, PA). In addition to volunteers to help prepare and serve we are lookig for cash donations to cover the cost of purchasing the food to prepare pancakes, sausage/bacon, fruit and coffee/tea/juice. Please contact Jill Meade if you are able to volunteer and be engaged in this service project. Cash donation can be sent directly to the West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club or Jill marked in support of Opportunity House Service Project.

Berks Nature Programs & Projects + Students of the Month

Kaitlyn Tothero, Communications Specialist from Berks Nature will share how they are committed to improve and protect our land and water resources, to educate our community about land use and its implications, and to connect people to nature. Join us to learn more about Berks Nature a conservation organization that serves Berks County through their conservation projects including land, water, trails, community gardens, education programs, State of the Environment and Eco-Camp. We will have one of our Little Libraries located at their Berks Nature Place and we are planning a family walk/hike to be conducted by Jeremy Haymaker, Trail & Preserve Specialist. |

West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary BoothArtisans & Crafters • Food + Drinks • Shopping • MusicThe West Reading Fall Fest will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Here’s the link for more information: https://visitwestreading.com/west-reading-fall-fest/ The West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club will again participate with our double booth in front of the Reading City Church. We will be giving away popcorn, selling grilled cheese sandwiches and bottled water. We are also handing out free tree seedlings compliments of Bartlett Tree Services. Rotary promotional literature will be available, one of your Little Free Libraries will be on display for you to take a book or leave a book. We plan to generally cheer up the Penn Avenue crowds with our presence. Of course, this doesn’t happen by itself, and we need your help. Please consider volunteering an hour (or two, or three) of your time to staff the booth - just let George Lutz know when you can help, he is maintaining a volunteer list and will circulate it to membership on a regular basis to keep everyone updated. |

Our club is participating in Adopt-A-Room at Mary's Shelter. The bedroom was designed by a local high school student. We were assigned #32 for a high school aged male. Take a moment to view the link. Watch it as a presentation to see the design and overlaying images to support the design. It's our goal to make it as close to this design as possible. We are looking for softgood donations. What can you supply? We'd like items to be new or like new. PLEASE REVIEW DESIGN ON THIS LINK before purchasing items. All donations must be delivered to Jill before we stage the room. Crossed off items have already been purchase. Thanks to those who have donated.
7/31 We painted the room. 9/20 through 10/1 Staging Bedroom -exact date TBD based upon donations. Please contact Jill Meade with questions about donations.
