DESCRIPTION:Dear All\, Please join us in building a Community Compost at th
 e GoggleWorks Gardens! Composting is the process of taking food scraps and
  garden waste\, and allowing it to break down into rich fertilizer. We tak
 e this beautiful fertilizer and add it back into our gardens as our main s
 ource of nutrients allowing us to grow organic vegetables\, fruits\, and h
 erbs. This method of recycling our waste back into the land allows us to d
 ivert food waste from landfills\, turn yard waste into fertilizer and educ
 ate our community on the final step in a cyclical gardening process.   C
 omposting systems in community gardens are common but often are only big e
 nough to accommodate the waste created in the garden.  We are building a 
 compost system that allows us to not only utilize the waste from our garde
 ns but also from the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts main campus\, the Lau
 er’s Park Elementary school and the homes of our neighbors. We are creat
 ing a compost system with the scale to accommodate community members bring
 ing their compostable materials to the garden and then\, once the compost 
 is finished\, redistribute it as bagged finished compost back to them. Thi
 s project is sponsored by the West-Reading Rotary Club\, and a matching gr
 ant from the 7430 Rotary District. Composting aligns nicely with our 7th A
 rea of Focus to Protect our Environment! * Free Parking available in the G
 oggleWorks Parking Lot.
