 Meet Dr. Jason Elvin...I didn't realize that when I met Jason at Starbucks, I was meeting the Starbucks #1 fan...it's an everyday thing with Jason! The black iced coffee is his go-to.....and the staff of the Royersford Starbucks probably knows him by name! Jason Elvin grew up in Washington, NJ, and when we, as Pennsylvanians' think of NJ, we think of congestion and traffic, and lots of development....but, where Jason grew up, it was rural.....Jason's Mom is first generation from Northern Italy and his Dad is of Irish descent....Jason has an older sister (2 years between them)...and then came Jason 38 years ago! During their childhood, Jason states that both he and his sister were pretty good kids....nothing out of the ordinary...As a young child, Jason wanted to be a sportscaster for the Phillies, just like the legend, Harry Kalas! Jason was a big sports guy....played baseball and soccer, but, finally, found he really enjoyed wrestling and he was good at it! He wrestled in 140lb class in his junior year and 145lb class in his senior year...and as it turns out, he was very good at wrestling...As a teenager, Jason was into fitness and health, and that was the start of his interest in physical therapy. Jason wanted to go to Penn State, but, the "out of state" tuition costs put Penn State "out of reach" for Jason...He went to the State University of New York at Oswego, on the shore of Lake Ontario.....and graduated in 2006....he then went on to Grad school at Temple University, graduating in 2009...While at Temple, he had classes with Melissa, his wife.......He felt it was love at first sight....for him....It took him almost the whole three-year program to get her to go out with him.....!!!! Even though Melissa came from Hazelton when they both graduated from Temple, Jason and Melissa got together in South Philadelphia, in an apartment at 8th and Federal...they stayed in South Philly til 2013. When Jason was in his first semester in college, he was told that his Mom and Dad were divorcing....They went their separate ways, Mom now lives in Easton, PA, and Dad lives in Washington, NJ, where the story began.....But, they both are still very involved in the "kids and their grandkids"....Jason's sister lives in Randolph, NJ with two daughters of her own...and of course, Jason has three daughters. Upon graduating college, Jason got a job at Kinetic Physical Therapy in Chester Springs, PA....and purchased a townhouse in French Creek townhouse development in Phoenixville in June 2013....In December of 2013, he popped the question and asked Melissa to marry him! I asked how he did it....."I had a car service pick up Melissa in Phoenixville....the car brought her to City Hall downtown....There we got engaged and spent the weekend in a Hotel downtown.....In May of 2015, Melissa and Jason married at Normandy Farms in Blue Bell and honeymooned in San Francisco and Kauai, Hawaii....Then the ladies started to come.....Logan on 9/2016.....Sloane 2/26/2020....and last, but not least....Declynn Severina was born on 8/14/2022...firmly making Jason a "girl Dad".....Melissa still works part time for Penn as an In home physical therapist...Busy lady. I asked Jason, "if I had a Magic Wand", what would your wish be......"to retire his parents as they are both 70 and both still working.....How nice is that? I also asked what is in his bucket list.....the answer was to travel to Italy or in America, out west......What a great visit....Thank you, Jason! |
