Smoky Hill Rotary Board met on January 13. Here are some highlights of the meeting:
Jean Buscherhof has resigned from the club. She enjoyed her time with us but has had some health issues that made it advisable to leave. Jean, we will miss you. Don’t be a stranger-you are always welcome at any time to any event.
The Board will explore repeating last year’s successful joint bowling outing with another club. If you would like to help arrange this or attend, please let Hugh Radke know.
DAVA is looking to replace some of its out of day computers. SHRC will look into buying and donating a computer using lottery funds.
SHRC is currently processing vocational scholarships for students from Pickens Tech. Mark Rank has 26 applicants. We can provide as many as 5 such scholarships.
International has committed funds to clean water projects in Ukaraine and Cameroon. The committee has also voted to give $1,000 to Shelter Box.
RYLA and YRYLA are still on as of this time. Candidates for SHRC slots are being solicited now.
Thoughts and Prayers
As you are all aware, PP Terry Remigio checked himself into the hospital in Estes Park last weekend with chest pain. He was transported to the regional medical center in Loveland. Terry received a quintuple bypass. Late this week, Terry was up and around a bit and ate real food, so that is all good news. Linda has been texting PDG Talee Crowe and asking her to spread the word to Terry's Smoky Hill Family. Please send any inquiries to PP Jeff Kaes and Talee while Terry is recuperating.
Keep those prayers going!
E-Club One-20 Years Old
Rotary E-Club One is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This is the first of what has become many Rotary clubs entirely online. E-Club One was the brain child of several Rotarians, including Dist. 5450 Rotarians John Minter, Matt Matson and our own Gary Fletcher. I know Gary would be proud of how much his child has grown.
