CLUB MEETING NOTES:

President Dave Maxwell announced that there is no MONDAY MEETINGS for the next 2 weeks due to Installation being this Sunday and the 4th of July (Independence Day) that falls on the following Monday. A lilt in his voice announcing this is his last Monday meeting. And, for this Rotary year the last Monday Meeting for all of us.

A final reminder from Nancy Jones of our Installation Dinner to be held the coming Sunday evening, June 26, at Maggiano's Restaurant, 7401 South Clinton Street, 6:00 p.m. Contact Nancy if you have a change of plans.

We were honored to have Gary Gilliard, Assistant District Governor, as our guest today.

And, Sargent at Arms and Past President Jim Wingert gave a well-timed and brief history of Smoky Hill Trail where Smoky Hill Rotary gets it's name. Nice finale'.

RECENT SPEAKER

Randy Simpson, a supervisor, at Aurora TV was our guest speaker today. Gary began as a volunteer at Aurora TV in 1985. He has seen Aurora grow from 60,000 population then to over 360,000 today. His goal is to present positive stories about people and happenings in Aurora and encouraged Smoky Hill Rotary Club members to use the services that Aurora TV offers. Randy was most adamant about the need for positive stories and sited as one example the reporter burn-out after the Columbine shooting. He also mentioned the Fire Station No. 13 Story that was picked by competing stations after his initial broadcast. Randy would also like to have more young people involved with Aurora TV

Randy's newscast is Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and issued an invitation for SHR to come visit. His recommendation is to come in groups of 4 and to arrive at 1:15.
