By-Laws Revision-
An email was sent to all Club members by Linda Forsythe on March 2, 2025 with the Revised By-Laws. Linda will summarize the changes at the meeting on March 10th. Then an electronic vote will be taken by email several days later for all members. The By-Laws have to be approved the Club. In the works, as well, are Operational Procedures and Guidelines to go along with the By-Laws. These are more detailed explanations and information for some sections of the By-Laws. They will go for a vote by the Board on March 24th. Then both documents will be found in the Documents section of ClubRunner.
Speakers from February 24th-
Fire Chief Alec Oughton and Community Relations Liaison, Edward Manzo, from the Aurora Fire Rescue were our featured speakers. Chief Oughton spoke on why he has appealed to Rotary for support in fundraising for a mobile fire education trailer. Currently, there is little education for children and families on how to escape a house fire or how to avoid a fire in the first place. House fires have increased while funding for education has decreased. Edward Manzo presented slides on what a fire safety education trailer would look like and how it would increase education in the schools and community for children. Smoky Hill Rotary and the Rotary Club of Aurora have teamed up to raise funds for this trailer and to put on the Fire Safety Field Day as our May 17th Epic Day of Service project. Our legacy will endure as the Smoky Hill Rotary emblem will be on the trailer as it travels around to schools and community.
