MEETING NOTES
CLUB MEETING NOTES:
 
President Denny presented this day in history with these facts: 
1919  The 18th amendment (prohibition) was ratified by 75% of the sates, making it an amendment to the Constitution.
1938   Benny Goodman performed the first jazz concert at Carnegie Hall.  This is significant because prior to that time all concerts   
           were classical music.  Goodman's concert brought jazz into the mainstream of American music.
 
Thank you to our greeters and to Clay for the Invocation who acknowledged the contributions and significance of Martin Luther King, Jr.  Clay closed with a challenge.  What can we do to make a difference in the world?
 
There was very light attendance due to weather conditions and the holiday. AND,A HUGE THANKS TO PP BEV EDWARDS FOR MEETING NOTES!
 
Talee announced the next Ronald McDonald house dinner will be January 17th, and she needs two more people.
 
Terry announced that January 30th is Charter Night and that more information will be forthcoming for the evening schedule and location.
 
P.E. Nancy says that the nominees for the 2017-2018 Board will be presented at the luncheon meeting on Monday January 23rd.
P.E. Nancy is looking for a Sergeant-at-Arms and a Program Co-Chair
 
Al Horton announced that the Club is conducting a Football Super Bowl pool.   Squares can be  purchased for $10.00 each.   The monies go to Community Service Projects.

The regular Board Meeting is this Thursday, January 19th at Susan Aubin's office at 5:30p.m.
Midyear President's Meeting is this Saturday.   Also a Grant's Seminar is being sponsored by the District this Saturday.
There will be not lunch meeting on January 30th.
District 5450 is taking nominations for District governor for 2019-2020.
 
Stump the Rotarian was correctly identified after two clues.   Here are the clues:  1. worked as a newspaper editor in Texas;
2. loves growing roses; 3. loves Leonard Cohen; 4. has a son who lives in Sitka, Alaska; and, 5. has a son who played for the Denver Broncos.  
 
Then the Club broke into committees for Committee Meetings.
