A few more pictures from the very special day shopping for the Century Elementary kids at Walmart on August 11 including Monique and Syeda diligently working at the cash register. The young girl with the waist of her new pants wrapped around her neck is Inaya. Her mother was making sure they will fit?!? Sure enough, there is a wives' tale that claims if you can wrap the width of the waist of your pants around your neck where a T-shirt collar falls, then the pants will fit. If the ends of the waistline don't meet at the back of your neck, the pants will be tight and if the waistline overlaps, the pants will be baggy. What does it mean if the ends of the waistline overlap and your pants are tight? Nothing personal ... just wondering? Thanks again to PP Darryl Harvey for organizing this extraordinary event!

My memory shrinks, my hearing stinks, no sense of smell, I look swell like hell, my mood is bad - can you tell? My body's drooping, have trouble whooping pooping, the golden years have come at last, the golden years can bless my past kiss my a--.
THIS WEEK'S THOUGHT …Every time you put something positive into the universe the world changes. Your kindness invites miracles to show up. Not just in your world but in the whole world.
THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM
Luke Cannon, Director of Commercial Development for Koelbel and Company, gave a presentation on the redevelopment of Regatta Plaza located on the NW corner of Parker Road and I-225. Luke joined Koelbel in 2014 and has a B.S. degree in construction science from Texas A&M University (Gig 'Em!) and a graduate degree from the University of Colorado (Go Buffs!) [Editor's note: Luke is very intelligent]. Luke joined Koelbel in 2014 and is involved with commercial construction, financing, project management, etc. Regatta Plaza became a blighted eyesore with a long history. Both CU and DU real estate/business schools have used it for case studies. When Luke was in graduate school at CU he was involved with a semester long case study of Regatta Plaza in 2011.
In 2015 Koelbel submitted a master plan for the redevelopment of Regatta and in May 2015 Koelbel was selected by the City of Aurora as the private developer of the TOD (Transit Oriented Development) project under master development and construction management agreements. The development has been renamed The Point at Nine Mile Station and is still in the planning phases. The City of Aurora condemned land previously owned by Sharma (purchased by the city in June 2017) and Regatta Landing (purchased by the city in Jan 2017). Demolition of the site and environmental remediation began in May 2016. The site contained biohazardous materials. Following long negotiations with Key Bank and King Soopers, they have agreed to relocate within The Point through land exchange agreements with the city. King Soopers is replacing their existing 50,000sf store with a new 78,000sf store located at the NE corner of the project. The new store will open in August 2019.
Infrastructure, engineering, design work and underground storm detention and utility work is ongoing. The south half of the project is projected to contain multifamily, office and entertainment facilities and a pedestrian bridge connecting The Point at Nine Mile Station with the Nine Mile Station RTD parking garage.
