Our 23rd annual SPECIAL THINGS FOR SPECIAL KIDS Adopt-a-Class shopping trip has now been scheduled for Saturday September 7. We will be taking 32 students from Jewell Elementary out to shop for school clothes they otherwise could not afford. This is a great opportunity to bring a friend to show them what Rotary is all about. Please put this date in your calendars and invite family members and friends to help as well. The details are:
Where-
We will be holding this year’s event at the Southlands Walmart at 6101 S. Aurora Parkway, Aurora, Colorado 80016.
When-
September 7, 2024. The families will be asked to arrive at 9:00 am. Rotarians are asked to arrive at 8:45. We are usually done by 11:00 or so.
What We Will Be Doing-
You will be paired with a Jewel Elementary student and family to help with staying within budget and share a special day for all. Our goal in this program is to outfit each of your kids with basic school clothes for the coming year

AURORA CLUB INVITE:
The Aurora Rotary Club is inviting us to join them on September 11th to hear their speaker, Regina Lewis. Regina spoke at the PETS conference this past March and is a dynamic speaker who had the audience laughing and in tears. Don’t miss this emotional and engaging speaker. Lunch is at 12:00 and is $20. AUGUST 12TH MEETING:
The August 12th meeting will be a post golf tournament celebration at Centennial park with a box lunch provided by Mark Rank and My Favorite Muffin. The park is at 13050 East Peakview Ave, Centennial, and we will be in the Coffee Shelter. Please let Linda know if you plan to attend so we can have enough lunches.
AUGUST 26TH MEETING:
Connie Effelson will be our speaker on August 26. Clearing the Space.
DISTRICT GOVERNOR VISIT:
Our District Governor, Tamara Fennell will be attending and speaking at our September 23rd meeting so let’s show her how great Smoky Hill is! Her presentation will be “Rotary, An Expression of Who We Are.” An opportunity for Rotarians to share their personal and club passions.
DISTRICT CONFERENCE:
The District Conference is Saturday, September 28th from 9:00-4:00 at the CSU Spur Hydro Building. Sign up now at the rotary5450.org website. Several of us are already planning to go.
