NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT
The Board met on Thursday night. This group keeps our Club strong and vibrant. We work together to develop activities to further our mission. Any member is welcome to join the meeting via Zoom. We encourage our newer members to join a meeting to see how the Board operates. The next meeting is January 13, 2022 at 5:30 PM. Contact me if you want to join and I will send an Agenda and the Zoom link for the meeting.
The President for the next Rotary year will be Craig Essex. Contact him to let him know you will volunteer to help manage the Club. We are a small Club and need many people to accomplish our goals.
The Christmas wish list from the students at Jewell Elementary is available on line. Please select a child or family to support. Bring your wrapped gift or gifts to the Holiday party on Sunday evening, December 5.
Smoky Hill will host a White Elephant Gift Exchange on Monday, December 20. Lunch will be served at Morningstar Residence in Parker, the home of a charter member, Bill Maclay. Your spouse or guest is invited to join us. More information will be sent in early December.
A celebration of the Charter of Smoky Hill Rotary will be held at our regular meeting on Monday, February 14. The District Governor, Ray Anderson, will join us. Please plan to attend.
We are in the season of giving. A donation to the Paul Harris Foundation is a good way to celebrate your holiday. Contact Lloyd Gottman for details or include an amount on your payment to the Club.
New Major Donor-
PP Jeff Kaes was introduced by Foundation Chair PP Lloyd Gottman to the club as the newest Rotary Foundation Major Donor, having contributed more than $10,000 to the Foundation. They used to say that Rotary could drill a water well for someone for about $1,200 (don't know if that figure is still accurate or not, but that would mean that over the years, Jeff has provided clean water for 8 towns or villages around the world. Congratulations!
Jewell Elementary Gifts-
Smoky Hill Rotary will once again be buying Christmas gifts for Aurora kids, this year in partnership with Jewell Elementary School.
Below is the link is to a Google Doc. You can select one or more kids to buy for by putting your name in the far right column. If you have trouble getting in, you can call Krista Hill with Jewell Elementary to gain access to the document. Have a good time shopping. We will bring the gifts to the Holiday party on Dec. 5. If you are not attending, please contact me or Hugh Radke to arrange getting the gifts to one of us.
