From The President
YOUTH SERVICE AWARD: Tuesday morning, May 17, President Betsy delivered a $1,000 check to Centennial Rotary Club as the winner of the 2022 award. The Club put school supplies in back packs for elementary school students.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE: On Wednesday, May 11, a few Rotarians and friends including a former member, Jim Suss, cooked the evening meal for the residents. We cooked and served the meal - were not required to fill take-away boxes. A summer date will be selected but more Rotarians are needed to cook. If you are interested, contact President Betsy. (The picture above was not from the most recent event, but does show Jim Suss, Al Horton and Debbie Urtz hard at work at some RMcD event in the past.)
INSTALLATION DINNER will be held on Sunday evening, June 12. Put the date on your calendar and plan to attend. An Evite with more details will be coming to you.
Smoky Hill Rotary Golf Just Around the Corner!
NO GOLF TODAY but registration is now open to play in the Smoky Hill Rotary Golf Tournament on August 5. Brochures are available and the information is on the web site: www.portal.clubrunner.ca. This our major fund-raiser for the year. It’s not too early to ask friends and family to support our Club. It’s up to us to make it a success!
Here are the minutes from the last Golf Committee meeting thanks to Gary Frisch, the Committee Chair. There is obviously plenty to do for everyone.
- A list of corporate sponsors will be sent to the Committee. Our corporate solicitation will begin.
- Shirts. We will discuss this with the Club at the next lunch meeting. It was the consensus of the committee that the shirt we have been using for the last several years is fine. The only shirts that will need to be ordered are for new members that do not have a shirt and those members who want a new one.
- Golf Cart Items. We will go back to goody bags. Each bag will have a sleeve of golf balls (Courtesy of Fidelity Title); lip balm (Also courtesy of Fidelity Title); an energy bar; and a bottle of water. What we will need is a sponsor to provide the bags.
- TV for the Raffle. Hugh will purchase a TV again this year.
- Raffle Items. We already have our first item. Paul will arrange for the raffle license. We will announce at the next Club meeting that we need raffle items. Darryl will send an email to the Club. We will begin putting items in the newsletter about our event.
- Hole In One. Our software provider has a hole in one package. I will find out the cost ask the committee for a vote.
- Next Meeting. We are planning on 6/7/22. I am wondering if we should just plan to meet prior to one of our lunches. The weather is nice so we could sit out side if we want to. The outdoor patio is conveniently located in the event anyone would like an adult beverage. If we decide to meet prior to lunch our next meeting will be 6/13/22. Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Raffle Items Needed-
An integral part of the Golf Fundraiser is the raffle. We need items to raffle off! Some suggestions:
- Gift baskets are a big item. Make your own or contribute items to be assembled into baskets. Wine and wine related items are always a welcome donation.
- Gift certificates to hotels and restaurants.
- Gift certificates to golf courses.
You can contact Talee Crowe for any questions or ideas for great auction items. She will be in charge of assembling gift baskets, etc. but will accept help if offered.
