By raising awareness and funds on World Polio Day, we can protect children around the world from the paralyzing effects of the disease.  We must continue to immunize up to 400 million children each year until it is eradicated.  This is a signature project of Rotary Clubs around the world so let’s show that Smoky Hill continues to support this worthwhile project. Attended by Linda Forsythe, Gary Frisch and Craig Essex.  It was a worthwhile day with an emphasis on the Protecting the Environment.  A lot of good information was shared and raised awareness of how important saving our environment is.  Did you know that less than 9% of plastic is being recycled??
 

Fire Safety Education Trailer.  Last year, as a part of the Epic Day of Service, we began fundraising for a Fire Safety Education Trailer for the Aurora Fire Rescue department.  This trailer will be used in the community and in schools to teach children and families fire safety in the home.  Smoky Hill is working with the Aurora Rotary club on raising the $150,000 needed for the trailer.  We are now going after the big money with grants and business donors.  Linda Forsythe is part of the grants committee which is chaired by Hugh Radke. We will submitting a proposal to numerous grant sources that are focused on fire safety and education. Mark your calendar for May 17th, 2025 when we will again be hosting a Fire Safety Field Day as our Epic Day of Service project.
 

MEMBERSHIP, MEMBERSHIP, MEMBERSHIP!  Remember that our focus this year needs to be on gaining new members.  This is essential for the survival of  Smoky Hill Rotary!
