MEETING NOTES:
President Dave Maxwell announced the last chance to get your reservations in for the January 9th Dinner for Rotary International President's speech and fundraiser. Call President Dave directly for this event, and soon.
Nancy Jones had sign up sheets for our Holiday Party this Saturday, the 12th at 6p.m. Directions to Mary and Bruce Smith are written and in map form below. Nancy will have a "Colwell Open House" sign to mark the turn street for Sunset Drive, which is so appreciated for it is quite dark out our direction and street signs get smaller at night... Also Bruce will have signs leading up to his house and into parking areas Don't forget to bring those gifts for Century Elementary if you have not given them already (more on that below), and your designated side dish.
Past President Bill Maclay continues to collect gift cards from members for Gateway's Shelter and will do so until the 21st of December.
At such time Bill must turn them into the shelter. If my math is correct with the amounts Bill mentioned we are around the $1000 mark. With two weeks to go this will be a stellar year for the shelter, thanks to Smoky Hill Members.
President Dave has pre-loaded King Sooper's cards available for those King Sooper shoppers. A nice gift for a hard-to-buy-for family member or friend. These cards are used for your own grocery shopping yet will benefit Gateway as well and are usable all year.
Past President Darryl Harvey reminds us that next Monday is the last chance to provide a gift to children at Century Elementary. Since we will not meet next Monday, your last chance maybe the Holiday Party or to see Darryl for delivery. For those absent and who have not picked up a child's name card then Darryl suggest buying any present for an elementary age child, but leave the gift unwrapped so we can match the gift to the child.
For those with name cards please attach that card to the package. From there Darryl and members will present them to the special children at Century next week.
Past President Gary Frisch, and Chair of the International Committee, Vlad Lazinskiy, have places for your last minute/end of the year contributions. Gary as President of Smoky Hill Rotary Foundation says your contributions will be acknowledged and ear-marked for your favorite project. or used to benefit Club's Community Givings. Vlad briefly discussed the next Hospital Project in Montenegro and lacks $5,000 for that project. A nice place for those extra tax-deductible dollars.

This is the Second Notice for Denny Passantino who has stepped up to fill in as President Elect 2016-2017, as Pat Pogue stepped aside when his firm called on him for bigger and better things.
And today on this date in history I saw an excellent bumper sticker: Land of the Free, because of the Brave.
