When we think of Basic Education, we often think of school, our young people learning to read, write and do arithmetic.  We know when school is back in session.  Traffic patterns change as parents line up to pick up or drop off their kiddos.  Mom & Dad's taxi service seems to run non-stop.  Fall sports events and practice have become the new norm for many families.

 

What about those in our community who for what ever reasons have not been able to fully grasp what they are being taught or why it is important.  As adults you may have learned to appreciate the benefits, for many young people they may not be there yet.  School, reading , learning is a struggle.

 

What can we do as Rotarians to ensure everyone has access to basic education and literacy?  And that they be given the opportunity and support to be successful and succeed.

As a club we actively support our young people in our community with Scholarships through the RRISD Partners in Education and Austin Community College. Jessica Mossman is also looking into Vocational Scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year.

 

What about those we have yet to help?  Are you part of a Non-Profit we can organize a Service Project around to help create lasting change when it comes to basic education and literacy?
