The first meeting of the new year we had special speaker Bobby Roy from the 3D Entrepreneurs Club (3DE Club) in Santa Cruz. Bobby Roy is the founder of the 3DE club, a non-profit initiative that teaches kids (ages 8-12) essential skills for the AI era through 3D modeling and printing, fostering entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and financial literacy via a "Learn-Earn-Invest" model, helping them design and sell products while building a foundation for future economic success.

Donna Maurillo of the Santa Cruz Rotary Lunch Club gave the presentation tonight on security issues surrounding major public events. She has a background in local government transportation policy and public security is a major factor in that. She highlighted the Murrah Federal Office Building bombing in 1977 and the Boston Marathon bombing of 2013. Two quite different scenarios but with drastic and horrible consequences. Some of the upcoming public events that will need extra attention to security matters are the 2026 FIFA World Cup games in North America and the 2028 Olympics in Italy.
