Donna Maurillo grew up in northern New York State, traveled for ten years as a military spouse, and landed in California where she graduated from UCSC with a degree in art. She made her career in corporate communications in Santa Cruz and Silicon Valley before being recruited to become Director of Technology Transfer for the Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State. The Institute worked under contracts from the US Department of Transportation, Homeland Security, and Caltrans. She earned her graduate degree in Transportation Management with a specialty in Systems Security. She is a 35-year member of Santa Cruz Rotary, now retired but working as a substitute teacher primarily in Soquel and SLV School Districts. She also is a photographer and food columnist living in Scotts Valley.
