Rail & Trail

Sally Arnold has been a resident of Santa Cruz County since the mid-1970’s.  After a 30 year carreer in education, mostly in Soquel School District, Sally has become a transportation activist in her retirement.  Sally serves on the Transportation Committee of the local Sierra Club, on the Bicycle Advisory Committee to the Regional Transportation Committee, on the Stakeholder Committee of the County Active Transportation Plan, and on the Board of Friends of the Rail and Trail.

Founded in 2002, Santa Cruz County Friends of the Rail & Trail is an all volunteer non-profit organization that advocates for transforming the 32-mile Coastal Rail Corridor into a trail and rail transit system that increases choice, reduces environmental impact, and supports a vital economy. Together, we work to raise awareness and catalyze our community by:

  • Encouraging residents to express their opinions to decision-makers in writing and in person
  • Educating the public, agency staff and elected officials
  • Partnering with other local and regional nonprofits
