San Lorenzo Valley Museum

Lisa Robinson has lived in the San Lorenzo Valley since 1990. She is President of the Board of Directors of the San Lorenzo Valley Historical Society, which owns and operates the San Lorenzo Valley Museum , where she manages the exhibitions and collections. She is a member of the Santa Cruz MAH Landmark Committee and the MAH Publications Committee. She is the author of The San Lorenzo Valley (Arcadia Press) and The San Lorenzo Valley Flume (Lulu), and editor of Redwood Logging and Conservation in the Santa Cruz Mountains – A Split History (MAH). She is the local history writer for the Santa Cruz Mountain Bulletin newspaper.
Her presentation will include progress on the new Felton Library, and how it impacts the SLV Museum. |

Dave has a law enforcement career stretching over thirty years in the Birmingham, England area. After qualifying for his pension, he has recently joined an organization focused on coordinated law enforcement intelligence data collection on an international basis. In his spare time he writes articles about the Oakland Raiders for his favorite blog. Dave and his wife Anita are enjoying a brief holiday here in the Greater Bay Area with their daughters Amira and Isabel. |

Santa Cruz's SPCA

Brenna joined the SPCA in 2006 as Humane Educator because of her strong belief that education is the most effective way to impact animals and to promote a humane, progressive society by teaching compassion and respect for all living things. She now manages both the Humane Education program and the Volunteer program. Brenna has worked in animal care, placement, and education at local shelters for more than 20 years. She reaches more than 5,000 children, adolescents, and adults annually through interactive presentations in classrooms and other educational settings, and she also directs the SPCA Summer and Winter Kids’ Camps and a series of popular youth volunteer programs. Brenna has two children of her own as well as a parrot and a dog both adopted from shelters she was working at. |

Rosemary Menard has 35 years of experience in water planning and management, as well as regulatory and environmental issues. She has been director of the City of Santa Cruz Water Department since February of 2014. Prior to that, Ms. Menard served in two leadership positions with Washoe County, Nevada, as well serving in various management positions with Portland and Seattle water departments. She holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington, and has received the Distinguished Service Award by the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies.

Tina Davey is the Station Manager for KBCZ Boulder Creek Community Radio at 90.1FM. Tina is an integral part of KBCZ, helping to establish and build the station in 2013 with the support of the Boulder Creek Recreation and Parks District, who owns the FCC license. KBCZ currently has over 30 DJ's producing 100% original content and Tina is excited to help the station grow and continue to expand it's reach.

Observations on Israel's West Bank

Tom Helman retired five years ago from a career in social services, most recently after 20 years as the Assistant Director of the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County. He first travelled to the Israel/Palestine area in 1981 and returned in May of 2018 with a delegation that included seven Congressional Aides. Traveling with the aides gave the delegation access to unique experiences. He will be sharing his observations of the time the delegation spent in the West Bank area. |

The Rotary Club of San Lorenzo Valley will present a donation of $15,000 to the group toward construction of the footbridge over the creek in the adjacent Discovery Park. We are dedicating this in honor of Gil Gunn, one of the founders of this club. |

She has spent three decades in education, most of those years at Bear Valley Unified School District serving as a teacher and principal at an elementary school, then as a high school principal and finally as an assistant superintendent. Third-generation County native and 25 year veteran of the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office, Jim Hart currently serves as the Chief Deputy of the Administration Bureau. Jim attended Harbor High School and then went on to the University of Nevada-Reno on an athletic scholarship and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. With integrity and attention to detail Jim has executed all aspects of project management including budgeting, scheduling, and managing resources. He currently helps manage the day-to-day operation of the Sheriff's Office, which has a $75 million budget, over 350 staff and is the largest mutual aid organization in the County. In his service with the Sheriff's Office he has proven to be a tenacious and dynamic leader. |

Sue is a California attorney and business consultant who settled in Vietnam in 1994. She has been instrumental in creating hundreds of jobs and exporting thousands of Vietnamese products. She graduated from Mills College and received her law degree from the University of Santa Clara. Sue was a Deputy District Attorney in Alameda County before entering private practice. From 1992 to 1993, she served as California's Chief Assistant Secretary of State, engaged with Asian trade delegations until her move to Asia in 1994. |
