Last Week in Rotary...

Last weeks' featured guest speaker was "International man of Memory" Chester Santos who had an impressive demonstration that with the right technique we all can increase our memory potential. Let see who recalls the 15 words he made us memorized last week.

Plus  we had a GREAT turnout. Most likely it was not due to our guest speaker but our President's popularity

Guest speaker to be provided by Past President Mike Hannon:

Mayor Emeritus David Smith will be our guest speaker on August 27th.

Former Mayor Smith will be speaking on a variety of issues during his tenure as Newark's longest serving Mayor including:

- land swap with the City of Fremont;

-1st sales tax allocation to the Nimitz Project (result was the overpass)

- Development of NewPark Mall;

- Eddie/Gwen Araujo murder;

- Development of the "Pots and Pans" lands;

- aftermath of Proposition 13's passage

In addition, Mayor Smith will set aside time for questions.

President's Corner
This week the family and I had the pleasure of attending the Ribbon cutting and Grand Opening of the new Turf Field located at the Mel Nunes Sportsfield park featuring Mayor Al Nagy, Former USA National Soccer Team Members Brandi Chastain and Paul Bravo

You can see the excitement in the eyes of my family!!
