Words Whispered in Water
Mar 03, 2021 12:15 PM

The majority of the nation’s population lives in counties protected by levees. This is an eye-opening talk pulling from Sandy’s personal experience and part of what she shares in her upcoming book by the same name. Your audience will learn why all this flooding is occurring, what it means, and what they can do to stay safe. Rotary Club of Morgan Hill Administrator is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Apr 07, 2021 12:15 PM

This is exactly what this week's speaker will be opening our eyes to. She has seen first hand what a marriage that grows into leadership in a community can do for a healthy and prosperous life. S. Sequoia Stafford is the author name for a young woman who grew up in the Morgan Hill community and graduated from Live Oak High School. She may have even played soccer with girls you all know. Oakland Zoo Conservation Projects in the time of COVID
May 26, 2021 12:15 PM
As a 14-year veteran of Oakland Zoo, Nik Dehejia’s role as Executive Vice President is integral to all Zoo operations. Overseeing various departments, projects, and initiatives, Nik’s passion for advancing the Zoo into the future, both in wildlife conservation and as a visitor destination, has been key to establishing Oakland Zoo as we know it today. On a recent Oakland Zoo-sponsored ecotour to Africa, Nik met with many of the Zoo’s frontline conservation partners there, seeing firsthand the profound impact the Zoo’s ongoing support makes for wildlife abroad. A member of the prestigious AZA Honors and Awards Committee and the AZA Trends Committee, as well as a board member of the Regional Parks Foundation, Nik’s twin goals of Taking Action for Wildlife and over-arching future progress drives successful projects across Oakland Zoo. His leadership has strengthened our financial position, our relationship with our local community and our increasing equity and inclusion across the organization. In a massive undertaking representing the best in Oakland Zoo’s collaboration with community leaders, political leaders, and the diverse members of our Bay Area community, Nik oversaw the development of the California Trail, a $71-million-dollar project that included our Veterinary Hospital (opened in 2012), a Biodiversity Center (opened in 2013), and the California Trail (opened in 2017/2018). A 24-year resident in the Bay Area, Nik holds an MBA from U.C. Berkeley and has been a board member for Heyday Books, Community Initiatives, and Slide Ranch. Before Oakland Zoo, Nik worked in international public policy at the World Resources Institute and World Bank, in corporate responsibility at Business for Social Responsibility, and in a more traditionally commercial role at Levi Strauss & Co. The father of two teenagers, Nik lives in Alameda.

Jun 12, 2021 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The Rotary Club of Morgan Hill is hosting the Area 6 Service Project on June 12 at Galvan Park. It is a great opportunity for our club and fellow Area 6 clubs to give a face lift to an underserved area of our community. The Friendly Inn located at Galvan Park was the site of our first Harvey Barrett Senior Dinner and was a community hub for many years. Now another group we support, the Boys and Girls Club, calls the Friendly Inn their home and uses the park for their outdoor activities. Please see the attached flyer for more information and instructions on how to sign up for this volunteer opportunity. |
