Waseem Rabih
Mar 29, 2017
Waseem Rabih will be sharing his insight about what is happening in Syria, who are Muslims, who are terrorist, who are the refugees, and what the media is doing to paint this picture to Americans. How all that ties to what's happening in Syria and what kind of war it is. Waseem Rabih came to the USA in 1995, attended high school and college in Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penn State Univiersity with a BS degree in Economics and International Business in 2003. He worked in the banking and real estate world for a long time, and currently owns a printing company here in Morgan Hill. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Gilroy, because one of his clients saw what kind of humanitarian work he does for children who are victims of war.

Mr. Nan Su
May 10, 2017
With the strong bi-partisan support, U.S. Congress unanimously passed resolution H.R. 343 in June 2016, expressing serious concerns about the on-going large scale forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience in China. European Congress passed a resolution in Dec. 2013, urging the Chinese government to stop this brutal practice. The governments of Israel, Spain, and Taiwan have made policies to prevent their citizens from going to China to receive organ transplants. How did all these happen? Titles ‘Humanity’s Last Stand’, the talk reveals China’s large scale forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience, and provides the history of the investigation: how it began, caught the public attention, and has now become a prime focus internationally. Born and raised in China, Mr. Nan Su came to the U.S. in 1989. He has been serving as a news commentator for SOH International Chinese Radio Network and NTD International TV Network since 2003, commenting on a wide range of national and international news events. In the past decade, Mr. Su has made many speeches at public events on topics related to China. He has also been publishing poems, short stories, and prose in Chinese since 2000. In addition to his media work, Mr. Su is an advocate for human rights in China. He was one of the coordinators of Human Rights Torch Relay in 2008 prior to Beijing Olympics. Starting from Athens, Human Rights Torch Relay spanned from July 2007 to July 2008, with stops at more than 100 cities around the world in order to raise international awareness of China’s human rights situation. Mr. Su was instrumental in making San Jose as the first stop of the torch relay in North America. Besides his involvement in the public, Mr. Su holds a Master degree in Engineering, and has been a professional engineer for over 20 years. Mr. Su has been married for 27 years, and currently lives with his wife and two daughters in San Jose, California.

Gisela Zebroski
May 24, 2017
In 1948 Stalin challenged the West to a showdown between communism and democracy. Berlin set the stage. By blocking all land access routes to the Western Zones of Berlin, Stalin took 2.3 million Berliners hostage - doomed to starve to death unless the West surrendered their territory to the Soviets. A massive blackmail.
Over the following 11 months the Allies airlifted 4.6 billion pounds of supplies to Berlin, thus sparing West Berlin from Soviet occupation. By treating the hungry children of West Berlin to candy, Lt. Hal Halverson, turned former enemies to friends and the airlift to a joint venture. He is known as the CANDY BOMBER.
When WWII broke out in 1939 Gisela Zebroski’s privileged childhood came to an abrupt end. The Soviet Union took over Latvia, the country of her birth. Her parents, destined for deportation, fled to Germany and settled in Poland.
In 1945 the family fled again from the approaching Red Army. Her father had been drafted and was missing in action. Her mother and four siblings survived air raids and found safety in Austria.
In 1954 she immigrated to California where she married an American scientist who inspired her to go to college. She graduated with a degree in psychology and minors in creative writing, history and philosophy. Her two novels, THE BARONESS and MEPHISTO WALTZ, recount the world of her past.
Her own story is a work in progress under the title of SELFIE SIDEWAYS. |

How Being Part of History Turned Into a Memoir
Jul 26, 2017
Lt. Col. Pilato takes you back to the Sixties, one of the most turbulent times in modern history. An unpopular war is raging, students are protesting, black neighborhoods are on fire, and women are demanding equality. Angel tells how these events affected her and her decision to join the Air Force. As the first woman Air Force officer assigned to manage an Officers’ Club and the first to run one on a fighter base in Southeast Asia, she gives a unique perspective of the war. In her memoir Angel’s Truck Stop, A Woman’s Love, Laughter, and Loss during the Vietnam War she recounts starting out as a starry-eyed idealist only to realize that she’s going to have to learn how to manage the conflicts, challenges and choices she faces in her trailblazing position. Her last assignment in 1971 at Udorn Air Base, Thailand is where she encounters testosterone-fueled fighter pilots who take off on sorties over dangerous targets in North Vietnam. To celebrate their aerial victories the pilots drive their squadron truck into the Officers’ Club lobby and then head to the bar to drink ‘til dawn. They soon christen the O-Club “Angel’s Truck Stop,” which becomes the backdrop for her authentic war story. |
