Ed Banks: Watsonville Fire Department  BBQ October 18 to benefit the Firehouse Museum and project to re-paint the firehouse

Patsy: in collaboration with Rotary Club of Santa Cruz Sunrise we are collecting pajamas all through this month for local shelters.  All sizes appreciated.  Also reminder of Red Cross event “Celebrate the Red” September 27

Steve: barrel wrap for Second Harvest Foodbank on September 27 breakfast at 7:30, work 8:00 – 10:00

Vince: Interact Fall Leadership Conference September 28   8:30 am -3:30 pm at Independence High School in San Jose. Also reminder of Avenues of Service event on Wednesday, October 15 at Doubletree Hotel, San Jose.

Speaking with us today about local water quality is Jackie McCloud, Water Analyst for City of Watsonville. Growing up in Missouri near Mississippi River created interest in water quality. Moved to California and studied water issues in college. Volunteered at Coastal Watershed Council. Began work analyzing waste water affluent to sea. Decided to do distribution sampling of S C County drinking water. Created water education classes at Gavilan College.  Jackie became lab technician on water issues for City of Watsonville. Her work has earned awards at local, state, and national levels. Currently researching water pollution of Pinto Lake and doing work on Pájaro River.
