Carmel Jud: Rising International
March 29, 2018 -- “When a woman is empowered to support herself, the entire community benefits.”  Our speaker was Carmel Jud who founded Rising International in 2002 with a vision of a world where everyone has a chance to prosper.  It is the first non-profit to use the home party business model to contribute to solving poverty.  Rising International sells crafts made by the world's poorest people - women.  In addition, it trains under-employed women in the U.S. to run their own Rising Home Party businesses.

Today, Rising International works with women in 27 countries, focusing on areas of the world where it's the hardest to be alive as a woman. Carmel gave up her business venture, an award-winning advertising and market research firm that she had founded to start Rising International.  She has been featured in the press both locally and internationally including as Huffington Post's Greatest Person of the Day. She is a proud recipient of the 2012 Woman of the World award.
