Welcome to the Rotary Club of East Palo Alto Bayshore

We are a leadership organization made up of local business, professional, and civic leaders.  We are entrepreneurs, educators, engineers, etc.  Our Rotary Club was chartered in 1965, so for over 50 years, we've been making a difference locally and internationally.  We meet every Thursday for dinner at the YMCA in East Palo Alto (University Avenue and Bell Street).  Our meetings provide members and visitors updates on local and international Rotary projects as well as to learn from wonderful guest speakers from a variety of organizations who are making a positive difference in people's lives.  Contact us if you wish to attend one of our meetings.  Visitors are welcome!

Richard D. King Speech Contest (Club Level)
The Rotary Clubs of District 5170 sponsor the Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest each year offering our youth a great opportunity to gain public speaking skills while learning about what Rotary is and does throughout the world, especially among young people. Our hope is to inculcate the spirit of “He profits most who serves best.”

Currently EPA Bayshore Rotary is sponsoring three high school students who will compete to win prizes as top public speaker, or runner-up, in District 5170. Our hope is the award be used to further the student’s education. As Rotarians, our goal is to recognize and to support these young people who are tomorrow’s leaders.

Our club will host the local contest on February 22, 2018 at the YMCA from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The winner will move on to compete at the area level with hopes they will earn a spot in the district finals!

Let's all support our kids in this important endeavor!  Any questions, please contact Todd Armstrong, Youth Service Co-Chair.

Club Stories & News
February 8, 2018 -- Charlsie Chang is a Community Outreach Fellow at Peninsula Clean Energy.  She received her Master of Public Administration from Tsinghua University in Beijing.  She was our guest speaker back in January 2018.  Last week, she gave us another presentation on her life as a student studying at Tsinghua University and visiting places, such as, the Great Wall and North Korea.

Welcome to our club, Charlsie!

February 8, 2018 -- Virginia Johnson is AmeriCorps, Safe at Home Client Services Coordinator at Rebuilding Together Peninsula.

Virginia is a graduate of Maryville College, a small school in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. Though she studied Psychology, Philosophy and Religion, she hopes to make a career in the non-profit and NGO fields, specifically working with refugee, immigrant, and housing rights.  She decided to join RTP for a year of Americorps service to work in communities in which these issues intersect, and to be constantly challenged to tackle community problems in the most thoughtful and impactful ways possible.  In addition, she is joining the Peace Corps in September and move to the Republic of Zambia in southern Africa.

About Rebuilding Together Peninsula:  They provide renovation and repair services for the Peninsula’s most vulnerable homeowners—seniors, veterans, persons with disabilities, and families with children and community facilities. They are the only local organization addressing this particular need.
