Each year the members of the Rotary Club of Lantzville vote for who they think deserves this distinguished title. The winner is someone who unselfishly dedicates their time, skills, organizational ability and motivational skills to inspire other  Rotarians to continue to do good for the community and our International projects.

This year’s winner is Dave Elgie who joined our club over 5 years ago.  In that short time he has continually rolled up his sleeves and got involved. With his woodworking skills he led us in the construction of fences and gardens at Nanaimo Hospice. Dave has headed up our Monthly breakfast for the 7-10 Club in downtown Nanaimo where under his leadership we routinely cook breakfast for 200 – 300 of the less fortunate.  Living in Lantzville he keeps his eyes and ears open to the pulse of local events we can get involved in. Need a prize co-ordinator for a golf tournament, Dave and his wife Elfie turn their home into prize central for several weeks. Looking for candid, honest feedback of how our club is doing and sticking to our mission – you know where to go. For exemplifying the Rotary logo – “Service above Self”, we proudly congratulate Dave Elgie as the Rotary Club of Lantzville's Rotarian of the Year 2016
