Rotary Clubs are invited to help with sustainable food sourcing in the Nanaimo area.

Growing Opportunities hosted a Nanaimo Rotary work party at the Cline Agri-Health Centre at 2090 Skaha Drive, Nanaimo on Saturday June 18th from 9 am to 1pm. There was a BBQ after the work party so Rotary members could socialize together.
There were a large variety of tasks that a Rotary member could engage in including transplanting of rhubarb and asparagus.  Planting of a few types of cucumbers and squash.  Others did some weed whacking, fixing of fences and some light construction projects. The weather was perfect, the company was awesome and the BBQ was yummy.
Growing Opportunities is a non-profit co-op which trains and employs people with barriers and challenges to grow food on two urban community farms which provide fresh local produce to individuals and families living on low income.
