...including breakfast arrangements with the Tower Club. And she does double duty as Program Chair, bringing the Club an array of speakers from both the local community and the national stage.
Mary was born in Raleigh, N.C. She and her sister, Ashley, grew up in Raleigh under the care of their mother's sister. Mary moved to Winston-Salem in 2002 when she enrolled at Salem College. She graduated from Salem in 2006 with a degree in International Business, Spanish, and German.
Mary then received a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship in 2006, which she used to travel to Munich, Germany. After spending six months in Germany, she returned to Winston-Salem where she spent six months with Branch Banking and Trust Co.'s Leadership Development Program.
BB&T sent Mary to the Washington area in 2007, where she is currently a portfolio manager for the bank's Tysons Commercial Lending Team.
Renewing her Rotary connection, Mary joined the Tysons Corner Rotary Club in November 2007 under the sponsorship of BB&T colleague Joan Knosp. Mary's classification is Banking.
An avid athlete, Mary finished her first sprint triathlon at Lake Anna in October 2009, and is training for a second triathlon this April. She is also training for an 8K race in March. In addition, Mary participates in mountain bike races at Wakefield Park in Annandale. In her spare time, Mary writes a personal blog on baking.
Mary married her high school sweetheart, Dan Edwards, in August 2009. They live in Alexandria.
